The El Rancho Road Missile Bridge project was selected by the
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' South Pacific Division as
"Construction Contractor of the Year", received the American Concrete Institute, San Diego
Chapter, annual award for "Concrete Engineering Award for Bridge",
and was awarded the Associated Builders & Contractors "Eagle Award" for Excellence
in Construction for best project in the nation - Infrastructure and
Heavy Division. Over 40,000 man-hours were logged without a lost time accident.

The Missile Transport Bridge consisted of the design and construction of a 2,098 lineal foot bridge on El Rancho Road over San Antonio Creek. The bridge includes 19 spans with 7-foot dia. CIDH piles of up to 130 ft deep, pile caps, piers, precast girders to support the bridge deck, and 1,329 lf of approach roadway.

 
     
  The project design was completed under a 'Fast Track' design phase and accepted on schedule, allowing construction activities to begin on April 15 at the start of the permitted construction season. Vandenberg officials originally estimated it would take two years to complete the project. With an extremely aggressive schedule and intensive coordination with all members of the project team, the work was actually completed in 424 calendar days on December 1, 2003, a full 306 days early!.
