Contract Value:  $18.6 million

This project involved new construction of a 59,850 SF multi-story facility including a library, administration area, seating areas for 300 and 77 computer stations.   This steel-framed structure building with a concrete slab on grade foundation has a metal panel exterior and steel joist roof deck and structure and a roof of standing seam metal with clay roofing tile accents. Other project features include an elevator, a package air conditioning/heat pump system, landscaping, irrigation systems, handicap access, fire alarms and fire sprinklers throughout.

            RED ROCK CANYON VISITOR CENTER

Contract Value:  $15.1 million

Project calls for construction of a 1,250 SF contact/fee station and 8,200 SF visitors arrival station, as well as remodel of a 7,200 SFR administration building and rehabilitation of as 1,100 SWF restroom facility. Includes landscaping and hardscaping, shade structures and exhibit, support structures and landscape retaining walls. Both the visitors center and administration building will adhere to U.S. green building requirements.

            UCSD STUDENT CENTER EXPANSION

             LA JOLLA, CA

Contract Value:  $5 million

Straub served as prime contractor for the project, which involved construction of two, two-story buildings totaling 13,593 SF at the original student center. The buildings were designed to house student resource centers and a new café/lounge terrace/dining area in the form of a living room with a bank of lounge chairs, a multi-media conference room, a 3,000-book library, kitchen and counseling room, as well as offices and conference space. The project also included space for a Women’s Center, which is a 24-hour student study lounge, and the David Bohnett Wireless CyberCenter.

          HEALTH OCCUPATION BUILDING

Contract Value:  $16.3 million

Project involved construction of a two-story, 44,302 SF, steel-framed building with metal stud interior walls, a plaster exterior with split face block accents, and a flat roof with single-ply roofing and standing metal seam accents. The complex houses science laboratories, math and engineering computer laboratories, classrooms, faculty offices and health occupations program facilities. The job included demolition of 10,562 SF of the older labs and conversion of 3,779 SF of instructional space to storage space.

Construction of a 45,007 gross SF, two-story addition to the Cuesta College's main library and student services facility, which included a remodel of the existing library and new construction, including office spaces, lecture and meeting areas, reading areas and library stacks. Project also included utility relocation and redirection of voice/data transmission from the campus’ main distribution frame in the library.

          PHASE 2B RENOVATION AND REPLACEMENT

             SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA

Contract Value: $23.9 million

The project consists of four structures; one one-story building and three three-story buildings, connected by exterior walkways (56,332 square feet of new building construction and 26,000 square feet of renovation to Building 21). The buildings have drilled pier slabs on grade foundations, with a steel brace frame structure. The exterior of the buildings include glass curtain walls, ribbed metal, pre-cast panels and one common elevator. Renovation portion of contract involved three existing instructional buildings and one new exterior elevator.
